Halo's Haven Rescue in the News
From Chaos to Care at Halo's Haven Rescue
Spartan’s wounds are real. His fear was real. His neglect was real. Now he is finally safe, and we will continue fighting for the animals that remain behind.
On what should have been an ordinary day, chaos broke loose when a frightened, injured horse was spotted running wildly through the roads in Dorchester County, after escaping a neglectful property.
Spartan escaped what many of us believe was a living nightmare. Every day he shows us more trust, more healing, and more hope. But every time we look at him, we are reminded of the horses and other animals that did not leave with him. His body told a story no animal should ever have to live. Wounds covering him from head to hoof, untreated and painful. His eyes reflected fear, not defiance. This animal is now known to us as Spartan. The Warrior Stallion.
Spartan, is an unhandled stallion, who has never known human kindness. He arrived at Halo's Haven guarded, reactive, and deeply wounded. Both physically, and emotionally.
Years of neglect had left their mark. His injuries require intensive care, including both internal and external medications. His recovery and rehabilitation will be a long road.
Spartan is in need of immediate and continued veterinary treatment to address the wounds that cover his entire body. His care plan will require continuous monitoring, medical care, and physical therapy to ensure his healing stays on track. He will also need to be gelded to ensure safe recovery.
Having never experienced consistent human interaction, Spartan does not yet understand touch, trust, or safety. Building that foundation will take patience, consistency, kindness, gentleness and love.
Your support can help Spartan heal. He deserves to finally experience what he has been denied for so long. His journey won't be easy, but for the first time in this Stallion's life, he won't be facing it alone.
